REACH THE KIDS BEFORE DRUGS DO

One of the leading challenges today is that four out of ten 16 years old male and four out of ten 14 years old females in most of our communities are on at least one form of illicit or addictive substances or the other. Front line among substances abuse are alcohol, tobacco products and marijuana (Indian hemp); cocaine is not a major threat although it is becoming more available in Nigeria and West Africa sub region.

Most users of illicit and addictive substances are not initially aware that these substances are addictive until they get hooked and the urge to use them begins to come again and again. It is not usually noticed as a threat because the unit cost of the drugs is small and readily affordable e.g the cost of snuff, a stick of cigarette, a bottle of alcohol or a wrap of marijuana.

Increasing quantities are needed with more frequency of use over time which therefore puts heavy financial burden on such people; it is a one way route that leads to accidents, violence, emotional imbalance, damage to internal organs, mental illness, personal frustrations, and so on.

Users need conscious effort to stop drug dependence, so join us to encourage anyone you know to withdraw; where the problem has reached the level of addiction, we provide all support available. Despite withdrawal symptoms, even addicts can recover over a period of time.

CSIAIAD is building a network of partners and members called AMBASSADORS,to promote REACH THE KIDS BEFORE DRUGS DO campaign in schools, work places and among street kids.
